Charming Traditions: Our Winning Holiday Tradition Story

December 9th, 2011 by Lauren in Holidays, Monthly Contests; 2 Comments »; Share

Last month we asked all of our Facebook friends and fans to share their holiday tradition stories with us. We got an overwhelming amount of great responses! It’s so nice to hear how people celebrate the holidays with their family. We spend so much time working on making sure we have the perfect 14K gold and silver charms for you, and it’s nice to see how you put them to use. After all, charm bracelets are a great way to keep those holiday memories alive all year long.

As promised, here’s our winning holiday tradition story. It comes to us from Joan Sapienza. Thanks for sharing your story with us, Joan! Congratulations on winning the gorgeous family bead. And we’d like to thank everyone else that shared their holiday traditions with Classic Charms. With so many great entries, it really was tough to choose a winner.

Joan’s Holiday Tradition

My favorite holiday tradition began 15 or 16 years ago. My large family (4 brothers, 5 sisters, both parents alive at the time, many nieces and nephews) always gets together Christmas Eve. It is the only holiday where we all manage (barring illness or call of duty for our military/police/fire dept members) to get together.  It is a very busy, hectic time with lots of food and many presents for all.

My sister was busy in the days before with buying, wrapping and sorting all kinds of gifts. She was also telling her young son (he was about 3 at the time) the Christmas story of Jesus.  He, in his innocence, asked “If it is Jesus’ birthday why doesn’t he get any gifts?”  She was taken aback, but then asked what he would like to give Jesus. He had a small starfish that he had gotten earlier that year while they were on vacation. They wrapped the starfish up and then a family debate began as to how to get the present to Jesus. The idea was presented to send it to him via a balloon.

So, Christmas Eve after Mass, we all gathered outside with the starfish tied to a balloon and gave each child present another balloon and we sang “Happy Birthday” to Jesus as loud as we could and then released the balloons. Every year since then we have continued the singing and balloon send off. The young boy who first thought of the idea is now a college freshman. We started out needing only about a dozen balloons, but are up to almost 3 dozen now! Even the neighbors join in our tribute. It is a wonderful tradition and one I hope continues for all time!

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to share this tradition with you.

Christmas Gift Ideas: Travel Charms to Announce A Trip

November 24th, 2011 by Lauren in Holidays; No Comments »; Share

You could slip a pair of tickets into a stocking, wrap them up in a giant box, or tuck them in a card but there are so many more exciting ways to announce a trip to a loved one for friends. For the holidays though, give tickets in a fun way. You can use travel charms to make the gift more exciting and the payoff much more charms

Big trips are planned months in advance, so this exciting trip you’ve created may be as far off as months or even a year. While the lucky recipient is waiting for her big trip, give her a charm as well so she has something to hold onto!

If you’re taking a road trip, then you don’t have tickets at all to include. Instead, pick out the states you’ll be passing through to design a road map to your trip bracelet! The bracelet will be a great reminder of the trip both before and after!

How can you give the charm?

  • Attach the travel charm to a card, tied up with a string around the tickets.
  • Find her charm bracelet and add the charm. Then, wrap it so she can discover the next big trip she’ll be taking!

There’s so many ways to make a Christmas travel gift even more special! The extra mile in presentation will go far this holiday!

More than Charms

RB11721Y_medGold or Silver, charms hold the energy of their owners.  They hold the memories of time spent with loved ones, a hobby enjoyed.  They keep the the reminder of the loving hands of daily embrace close to the surface.  Charms have been used for birth announcements, reminders that each day is a gift and even as protectors against evil.  They are our legacy, charm bracelets have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries…Thinking that a charm is just a charm?  Think again — the charm you add to your wife’s bracelet will capture the memory of that trip you took together, the grandchildren you share, the big fish you caught last summer and even an anniversary spent together.  Charms have a special way of reminding us of special moments spent with those we love, long after they are gone.

The 12 Days of Christmas

November 19th, 2009 by Classic Charms in Holidays; 1 Comment »; Share

I know some may say its too early to be singing Christmas Carols, but one of my favorites has to be The 12 days of Christmas.  Each day in this famous Christmas carol represents something from the Bible. Its so easy with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season its so easy to forget the reason we celebrate Christmas each year is actually celebrating the birth of Christ, not Santa and the reindeer and all the presents under the tree.  This is a great Christmas carol with lots of meaning with each verse, and to celebrate this season, we invite you to grab a cup of tea, enjoy our favorite carol and the meaning behind it with the jingle of our 12 Days of Christmas Charm bracelet! True Love refers to God, Turtle Doves refers to the New & Old Testaments, French Hens refers to Faith, Hope & Charity, Calling Birds refers to the Four Gospels, Golden Rings refers to the first Five books of the New Testament, Geese-a-laying refers to the six days of creation, Swans-a-swimming refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments, Maids-a-milking refers to the eight beatitudes, ladies dancing refers to the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit, Lords-a-leaping refers to the ten commandments, Pipers Piping refers to the eleven faithful apostles, and drummers drumming refers to the twelve points of doctrine in the apostle’s creed.

Zero Calories to our Box of Chocolates!

So the christmas holidays are over, you have packed away all the decorations, the tree, taken down the lights and now wondering what in the world to get your special lady for Valentine’s Day?  Valentine’s Day has long been a tradition to show your special someone just how you feel about her.  This has long been a tradition for flowers, candy or even a sparkling item of jewelry to show how you feel.  With so many women on diets nowadays, why not add a box of chocolates charm to her charm bracelet – it has zero calories!  As wonderful as roses are (and lets faces it ladies – we all love to receive them) but unfortunatly they die in a few days or a week if you are lucky.  Why not surprise her with a gold dipped genuine rose that will last forever – just like the love that you share.  Our charms can tell her just how you feel about her – Soulmates Charms, I love you charms or even someone special charms.

Ghosts, Witches, Pumpkins – they are all charming…

October 18th, 2008 by Classic Charms in Holidays; No Comments »; Share

Halloween is one the few holidays that we never outgrow.  You probably remember when you were a young child, you would decide what you “want to be”.  Your parents would either take you costume shopping, or if you were like me, you had one of those insanely creative mothers who always made our costumes and they were the best in the neighborhood.  We never had store bought costumes.  She would always ask us months ahead of time what we wanted to be, (there were three of us she made costumes for each year) and then she got busy creating a masterpiece only outdone from year to year. Then one day when you became “too old” to dress up and go trick or treating, you would get stuck at home handing out candy to all the lucky kiddos in the neighborhood.  Now as an adult, many still get to “dress up” because its the one day of year, that you can be whatever you want to be. Its the one day where there are no boundaries – if you can dream it – you can become it – if for only one day.  Were you one of those kids who wanted to be the neighborhood ghost or the evil witch or did you dress up as a pumpkin?  Did your trick or treat bag weigh you down by the end of the night? In celebration of this spooktacular holiday we have charms for all the ghosts, witches and even a trick or treat bag to bring back all those fond memories of halloween days gone by.  Decorate your halloween charm bracelet with all your childhood memories.
