Was it the designers for Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Cartier, Dior, who for the last couple of years, have been pinning, hanging or sewing charms onto anything and everything? Was it celebrities that brought the fashion of charms back? Actor Matthew Broderick gave his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker a charm bracelet to commemorate the birth of their son. Was it today’s political, social and economic uncertainties that aroused in us a desire to return to a simpler, more secure time? The fact is most charm jewelry is personal, autobiographical, and often sentimental – a sort of scrapbook of our lives that links us to family members, old friends, and happy memories. Or was it because charms really do possess magical powers as it was once thought to.
You probably remember your Grandmother or Mother wearing a charm bracelet, whenever she walked, her charms jingled, then as time passed you didn’t find any charms or charm bracelets on women. What happened to them? Before you know it, everywhere you look, you see a someone wearing a charm bracelet and what happens? You have to look, you have to ask and you realize I must have one of those. Think about all the important people and places in your life. Charm bracelets are like wearing your life story – a photo album on your wrist.
Its become tradition in many families to start the charm bracelet tradition when a child is born. We have many customers, who tell us they are starting a bracelet for their grand daughter who was just born and they buy a charm (something significant that happened that year) and add to it each year, so by the time the child is a young teen, they have a lovely piece of jewelry, bringing back all the child hood memories of people, places and things that left an impression on them. What a perfect gift to give – a lifetime of memories.

Peridot (correctly pronounced Per-i-dot, although some still pronounce it per-i-doe) is the birthstone for the month of August. Peridot is also the gemstone for the 16th year of marriage anniversary. Peridot has been regarded since ancient times as the symbol of the sun. During the middle ages, Periodt was worn to ward off evil spirits.
Peridot is a gem variety of olivine and ranges between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness (Diamond is a 10). Peridot naturally comes from Norway, Islands in the Red Sea, Hawaii and is sometimes found in meteorites.
Peridot color ranges from olive to lime green, sometimes with a brownish tinge. The green color is due to the presence of iron, while the brownish tinge indicates higher iron content.
Its been mined for years as a gemstone and is mentioned in the Bible under the name of Chrysolite. Legend says that peridot was one of the favorite gemstones of Cleopatra and that some of the “emeralds” worn by her, were actually Peridots!
It is thought to bring the wearer Good Luck, Peace and Success. Its powers include health, protection, and sleep. The advantages of peridot are to attract love and calm anger while also soothing nerves and dispelling negative emotions.
Today many women wear Peridot’s on their charm bracelets, such as birthstone baby shoe charms, pacifier charms, birthstone kid charms and even birthstone charms! Many women wear charms to signify the birth of a child or birthday of their children. We carry many Peridot charms, featuring Charming Kids, Rona K Kids, Birthstone Baby Shoe charm and much more – visit us online today to see the entire collection of birthstone charms for the month of August!

August is here – summer time is almost over – time to get the kids ready to go back to school. Kids hate it, Mom’s love it. What did you do this summer? Did you pack up your kids and head to the beach? Is your summer time filled with swimming lessons, cheer leading try outs and camp outs? No matter what your summer time means to you, we have the charm for you. This is a perfect time to start your daughter on her first charm bracelet, fill it with all her child hood memories and leave room for more memories! We can make those fond child hood memories last a lifetime with a Gold Charm Bracelet or Silver Charm bracelet. Is she into soccer, volleyball or other sports? We have ballet charms, cheerleading charms and even charms for her favorite food!
Recently a customer came into our store with a charm bracelet for her Grand daughter (who is only 10 years old) and was filled to the brim with charms from trips her Grandma had taken her on and things that were important to her. Grandma was trying to find room for more charms, as she was getting ready to take her Grand daughter on yet, another adventure abroad. We suggested she must have the Rembrandt Passport Charm, as she had taken so many trips abroad. This was a bracelet filled with miniutre works of art, stuffed full of wonderful memories and indeed a treasure chest for her to cherish and remember all those trips and what a lucky little girl she was.
Charms are conversation starters – they tell our life story on our wrist. They tell the story of the people and places that has left their thumb print on our hearts. Talk to any woman who has a charm bracelet and she will be happy to share the stories with you. Do you have a charm bracelet? What do your charms mean to you?
Every summer me and my four girlfriends go to the beach for a week, we drink margarita’s, lay out in our lounge chairs, and play in the sand. Each summer we go to a different beach and always get four charms (for each of us) to add to our bracelets to remember the trip.
We always made home made ice cream on the 4th of July in our neighborhood, so of course that’s why my husband bought me an ice cream cone!
My fiance bought me a penguin charm, because after we saw March of the Penguins – he said I was his soul mate!
